Devices and Sensors
Spren can ingest many data types, but the primary data input is a building block of heart rate variability called “inter-beat intervals” (IBIs) or “R-R intervals” (RRs). When properly analyzed, this raw data is a window into the nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. More info here.
There are many compatible devices and sensors that can generate the accurate signal data needed, so we won’t be able to list them all, but here are the current most common compatible devices:
Sensor | Spren Compatibility |
Your company's device | |
Apple Watch (Series 5, 6, 7) | Compatible |
Most chest strap monitors (Polar, Garmin, Wahoo, etc.) | Compatible |
iPhone's built-in camera (iPhone 6 and newer) via the Spren Vision™ iOS SDK | Compatible |
Android built-in camera (various devices) via the Spren Vision™ Android SDK | Compatible |
Other smartwatches (Polar, Garmin, Wahoo, etc.) | In Development |
Google Fitbit (Sense, Versa 3, Versa 2, Charge 5, Luxe, or Inspire 2) | In Development |
Closed ecosystems (Whoop, Oura, etc.) | In Development |
Other devices (Earbuds, sleep mats, and more; contact us for a list) | Many Compatible |
For HRV biomarker insights, we recommend the device has:
- Inter-beat intervals (IBIs) or RR intervals that are not smoothed or averaged
- A minimum of 50Hz sampling rate for PPG signals or 250Hz sampling rate for ECG signals
